Baseball Pitching Training
A training guide for youth pitchers and coaches

Selecting a qualified pitching coach may be one of the most important things you can do to help your pitching career. Many baseball coaches say they can coach pitchers, but it is important to find a PITCHING coach in order to truly benefit.

A good pitching coach should be able to look at your mechanics and analyze them for mistakes. They should help you increase your pitching talent in a safe and healthy way. If you come across a pitching coach who wants to completely change your mechanics, this is probably a sign that you should find a new coach. A good pitching coach will take your mechanics and make small changes that should still leave you with a comfortable delivery that you are more or less used to.

Some high schools and many colleges have pitching coaches to help train the pitchers. These coaches can be a great resource to help you progress in your pitching career. And best of all, these coaches are there to help you for FREE.

If you are a younger pitcher or your school does not have a pitching coach, you may want to consider finding one to help you. Every pitcher can improve, and finding a qualified pitching coach can help you reach the next level in your pitching.

There is a big difference in a good pitching coach, and someone who has pitched at a high level. Coaching in itself is a skill and some people don't have it. If you know a former college or professional pitcher, don't always assume they will be a good pitching coach. On the other side of the coin, there are great pitching coaches who have never pitched beyond the high school level.

Word of mouth is a great way to find a reputable pitching coach. Ask around to your teammates, other coaches, etc to find a coach who is known to produce successful pitchers.

A great resource on the web to find a pitching coach near you is Find A Pitching Coach. You can enter your search criteria and locate a coach that suits your needs.

Good luck with your search!
