Everyone loves watching a guy who can throw 100 mph on the radar gun.

In my opinion, there's really no better way to understand the key elements of good pitching mechanics than watching and analyzing big league pitchers like Clayton Kershaw, David Price, Justin Verlander and others who are at the top of their game.

What do high-velocity pitching mechanics look like?

Yet, it's important to understand that many major league pitchers don't actually have what I'd call "perfect mechanics."

But what they all do well is make adjustments.

If, for example, they begin from a poor starting position, they are able to fix it midway through their delivery so it doesn't effect them as they move out to the critical landing position.

Most youth pitchers, on the other hand, are not able to make those adjustments so their mechanics, velocity and control will suffer.

Until a pitcher understands all the elements of good pitching mechanics, it's best not to try to copy a major league pitcher's mechanics. However, once a pitcher does fully understand mechanics, he can then model the best parts of top major leaguers' motion while building his own trademark delivery.

With the 2019 MLB season upon us, let's take a look at some of the fastest pitchers in baseball over the past few years...

I literally love watching these guys throw ched.

But you may be wondering:

How can I pitch faster?

Every pitcher wants to know if there are any special drills or exercises they can do that will help boost their pitching velocity.

The answer is, yes and no.

Pitching velocity really depends on the pitcher's mechanics, his arm strength, and what type of conditioning program he gets on.

Here's what's most important:

Train the center of the body, the hips and the trunk—and of course the legs. The legs support the hips and trunk, so that the trunk can explode and rotate.

That's how pitchers can produce more explosive power and arm speed.

When a pitcher with solid mechanics is properly trained, you will usually hear people say:

"He throws so effortlessly!"

And that's really the goal of every pitcher.

Keep working hard. No off days. No excuses.

TUFFCUFF pitching program One of the big misconceptions in baseball is that playing the game keeps you in shape to pitch. I wish that was true. It's not.

To get to the next level, preparation is everything. Big league pitchers spend far more time preparing to pitch than actually pitching.
